Fundraising goal met
Topeka and Midwest Music Scene has met its $5,000 goal of donations to assist the victims of tornadoes in Joplin, Mo., and the Kansas town of Reading.More than two dozen bands donated their time, and concessionaires gave their proceeds to the cause.Music promoter and musician Les Roediger, founder of the Topeka and Midwest Music Scene and organizer of its storm benefit concerts at the 39th Street Bar & Grill, Celtic Fox and Throttleback Bar, said the Salvation Army collected $5,005.76 to assist with relief in the two storm-ravaged cities. A final concert Sunday at Throttleback put the effort over the top.
